Room 201: In-School Workshops and Long-Term Residencies

Room 201 is a safe space at Twelve Literary and Performative Arts Incubator where youth are invited to develop as writers who learn mindfulness, critical community analysis, and of course, media production (chapbooks, web pages, videos, and sound recordings). Our space is designed to provide one hour long workshops, year long writing residences, and anything in between. Our experienced teaching artists provide lessons in:

  • Introduction to poetry
  • Poetry for publication
  • Poetry for performance
  • Short fiction
  • Playwriting for Social Change
  • Hip Hop Culture and the craft of MCing
  • Literary Theory

Room 201 is a space uniquely designed for writers. If you are interested in having our artists work with your students, it's best to bring them to Twelve, located at 325 E. 156th in the Waterloo Arts District. However, if you prefer for our teaching artists to come to your school, no problem. Our teaching artists are available visit schools across Northeast Ohio and beyond. If there is a workshop that doesn't quite fit what you're looking for, no problem. Our team is ready to design a package that works best for the needs of your students. Feel free to also contact us about our individualized instructional packages for home schooled youth.
